Shaunagh Ashby is an emerging Australian artist based on Cammeraygal land in Eora, Sydney. Encompassing painting, drawing and scultpture, her practice explores the interactions of colour, light, space and movement through dynamic compositional form and colour dialogues.

Expanding on the genre of abstraction in the contemporary sphere, her interest in fractal geometries as well as colour theory her palate explores the visual energy and tension between colour vibrancies and the emotional response they provoke.

Drawing on her architectural background, Shaunagh Ashby is influenced by the movement created by abstract geometries and forms. These geometries are the residue of a system of self-organisation known as fractals; a fractal being a non-linear mathematical equation that when continually fed back into itself, forms a pattern that becomes self-similar, regardless of scale. She is interested in the structural nature of things on the precipice of change, whether that is collapse, reformation or subtle evolution.

Shaunagh Ashby completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at the National Art School in Sydney in 2023 and holds a Bachelor of Architecture (hons) from UNSW, Sydney. She is currently a resident artist at Oneplus2 Studios in Balmain. She has a number of group exhibitions coming up and her work is in several private collections.
